I was taught Chinese Brush Painting by the resident art teacher at the Chinese school in South Africa, where my daughter was a student - a Mr. Fok. Eight years later on arriving in England, I found it difficult to find lessons at my level, so decided the best way to learn more was to teach the subject myself.
After taking a teachers training course, I moved into Adult education and was well employed for the next 12 years as well as running various workshops around the country on a regular basis. For a short time, while my husband was based in China, I found myself teaching there too. I have also kept my skills updated on a regular basis with teachers from Hong Kong, Singapore and, of course, China.
I now teach a regular Class in Denia and am still running monthly workshops in England for both Chinese Art and painting on sized and unsized silk.
A recent interest in combining precious metal clay and Dichroic glassware has sent me on a new learning curve to make jewellery to enhance silk clothing and, when there's time, my hobbies, include Tiffany and stained glass as well as scuba diving.
